My core belief is that movement is essential to our health and wellbeing. We only get one body for this lifetime, how are we going to care for it? I feel enlivened at the beginning of each class seeing the faces of people who chose to show up for themselves. I’ll walk beside you in health and good intentions.
“Shannon has a deep understanding of human movement, and she has a rare gift for explaining it with clarity and precision. She teaches you to move with greater awareness, supporting your movement from the core while strengthening the muscles that help you move safely and efficiently. Her classes provide a foundation for sports, dance, daily activities, or just getting older.
And don’t be afraid that the work will involve 100 crunches—you’ll find that you can build strength almost automatically by moving with awareness.”
My thinking is simple: bodies are meant to move. Young bodies, mature bodies, all bodies.
Whether we're building strength, restoring mobility, improving balance, or simply taking a deep breath together, every class is an opportunity to invest in yourself.
For more than 30 years, I've had the privilege of helping people discover the power of movement as a path toward living with more self awareness, strength, and greater ease. In both my group classes and individual sessions you'll find me blending the precision and strength of Pilates with the restorative benefits of fascial release, mindful breathing, and functional balance training. This whole-body approach supports pain management and recovery, while also building resilience and mobility to help us continue doing the things we love.
My personal movement path began long before I discovered Pilates. While earning my college degree in theatre, I immersed myself in movement theory to explore how the body communicates, expresses emotion, and tells a story. As an actor and director, I continued to deepen my understanding of movement and developed a deep appreciation for the connection between breath, posture, alignment, and the way we experience ourselves in the world. Those early years taught me to see movement not simply as exercise, but as a powerful form of awareness, expression, and healing. This perspective continues to shape my teaching today.
My life eventually led me to Pilates, where I completed my training and certification at the STOTT Pilates Corporate Training Center in New York City. Over the years, my curiosity about the human body has continued to grow, leading me to study movement through many different lenses, including fascial health, self-myofascial release, breathwork, balance training and healthy aging. Today, I weave these approaches together to create classes that are thoughtful, practical, and accessible to people of all ages and abilities.
What inspires me most is helping people reconnect with their bodies. Whether someone comes to class hoping to build strength, reduce pain, improve balance, recover from injury, or simply move more comfortably through daily life, my goal is always the same: to meet them where they are and help them discover something new.
